NPC CHAIRMAN VISITS FLOOD-DAMAGED BORNO STATE OFFICE, OFFERS SUPPORT

Yesterday, 17th October 2024, the Chairman of the National Population Commission, Hon. Nasir Isa Kwarra, FNSA, led a team on a visit to the NPC Borno State Office in Maiduguri to assess the damage caused by the recent devastating floods that swept through parts of the State capital and its surrounding areas.

On 17th October 2024, the Chairman of the National Population Commission, Hon. Nasir Isa Kwarra, FNSA, led a team on a visit to the NPC Borno State Office in Maiduguri to assess the damage caused by the recent devastating floods that swept through parts of the State capital and its surrounding areas.

During the visit, Hon. Kwarra and his team comprising Federal Commissioner, Akwa Ibom State, Chief Engr. Benedict Ukpong, Federal Commissioner, Kaduna State, Hajia Sa’adatu Garba Dogonbauchi, directors and technical staff of the Commission evaluated the impact of floods on the NPC’s Borno State Office and discussed potential measures to support the State Office.

NPC Chairman expressed heartfelt sympathy on behalf of the Commission’s Federal Commissioners, management, and staff to Hon. Barr. Isa Audu Buratai, the Federal Commissioner for Borno State, and the entire staff of the NPC Borno State Office.

He acknowledged the extensive damage inflicted by the floods, which submerged the office and destroyed vital materials and equipment.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this challenging time," Kwarra stated, emphasizing the Commission's solidarity with those affected by the disaster.

He recognized the significant impact of the flooding on both the personal lives of staff and the operational capacity of the NPC in the region.

Kwarra assured staff that support would be provided to facilitate the transition to a temporary office space.

"We understand that the road to recovery will be long and arduous, but we are confident that together, we will overcome this setback and emerge stronger," he added.

In response, Barr. Isa Audu Buratai expressed gratitude to the NPC Chairman and his team for their visit and support during this critical time, reinforcing the commitment of the NPC to continue delivering essential services despite the challenges posed by the flooding.

Meanwhile, a representative of the Federal Ministry of Works, Arc. Aisha Gubio was also present during the visit to assess and evaluate the impact of floods on the NPC Borno State Office.
